Falling Down

The start of the movie Falling Down (1993) sees William (Michael Douglas) stuck in traffic and roadworks on a hot summer’s day and eventually becoming so frustrated with his lack of progress that he abandons his car to continue his increasingly violent journey home on foot. I can fully empathise with William’s frustrations with his commute which often leave me mouthing expletives at the dashboard.

The local council in my part of the world has compounded the end of pandemic return to normal traffic conditions by trying to set a new world record for the number of simultaneous roadworks at one time, digging up every possible street like demented moles. Not only that but the road workers in our area must all be wearing Harry Potter cloaks of invisibility given the distinct lack of signs of any work being done. And relax and breathe….now where is my Chill Out CD?
